Our Ceremony-Tuesday, June 14, 2016
Our ceremony will take place at Ashford Castle, Cong, County Mayo, in Ireland. This is definitely a dream ceremony! The castle holds such a romantic and truly stunning location for our ceremony. From here, we will immediately be on our honeymoon right in Ireland!
The day of our ceremony, we will have an entire area of the castle all to ourselves! We will also be taking pictures across the grounds and throughout the castle, which should be pretty fantastic. The estate and the building itself are sprawling, and there's so much to see. I'm going to bring a pair of comfy flip flops so I don't mess up my white shoes (we all know I would, otherwise!), so I imagine I'll look pretty amusing wearing those with my dress!
We will have a late afternoon/early evening ceremony, followed by a dinner with a menu that we created ourselves.
About Ashford Castle:
Built in 1228, Ashford is set on 350 acres and holds a commanding view of Lough Corrib. There's a wide array of activities to partake of at Ashford; fishing, horseback riding, falconry (with harris hawks!), shooting, and more! My parents and I did the 'hawk walk' with the harris hawks the last time they were here. What a fantastic experience with such incredible birds! From the castle, there are small boat tours that go to one of the small islands of the lough. It is there that you can see one of the last remaining churches built by St Patrick himself with the help of his newphew.
The castle has played host to many of the world's leaders through the centuries, from royalty to prime ministers and presidents. It has also hosted weddings for celebrities like Pierce Brosnan.
