 The Proposal-August 9, 2015

The weekend of August 6-9, Carl and I went on a fantastic camping trip at Meacham Lake.  On our way back, we stopped at the beautiful Yaddo Gardens in Saratoga.  Later in the evening, we were on the balcony of our apartment watering our garden, and Carl asked me to turn around.  He was on one knee, ring in one hand, cat in the other.  He said 'will you marry us?'

It was so hard to focus on the ring with the cat looking up at me-her back paws were on the ground and her upper half being held by Carl.  Her mane was all fluffed around her face as she tried to back out of his arm, and her eyes looked so big, round, and pleading 'please put me down...!'  He put her down, where she immediately started rolling around in the crunchy leaves from our plants on the floor.  We had a good laugh!

I of course said YES!  Carl told me shortly thereafter that he was going to ask me at Yaddo Gardens, but there was a large wedding there when we visited and people were milling about everywhere, and we saw a large group of children on some sort of field trip.  To use his words, he 'chickened out' with the crowds of people everywhere.  I loved the way he asked me-memorable, sweet, and humorous :)
