Days 4-5, Doolin, Co. Clare
Day 3-After Ashford Castle, we are now traveling south to one of my favorite places-the small town of Doolin in County Clare. Doolin is internationally famous for its wealth of traditional Irish music, and there's a 'session' of traditional music players in the pubs nearly every evening. Carl and I will take a ferry to Inis Mor-the largest of the Aran Islands. Inis Mor is home to the heritage site of Dun Aonghasa, a ring fort on the edge of the steep cliffs, that is older than the pyramids of Giza. There are also the incredible Seven Churches (Na Seacht dTeampaill)-the ruins of two churches and a number of other monastic buildings. There are also the graves of some students from the Roman-period. This site dates from the 700s! My favorite spot though is definitely the ring fort. Something incredible to note is that there is no guard rail leading to the cliff edge and the rocky ocean faaaaar below. Darwinism, I guess...?

Day 4- From Doolin, we will be visiting the astounding Cliffs of Moher, where Carl and I will have a special cruise around the cliffs. We will meet back up at the top with the parents afterwords. The cliffs are such a spectacle, I'm so incredibly pleased to be able to see them both from the ocean below, and from up above as well. Such a perfect day!
