It's finally here! We will be flying out of JFK Airport on June 11 and landing nearly 7 hours later in Shannon Airport in County Clare, Ireland, on June 12. From there, we will head north to the city of Galway, in County Galway.
There's a bit of history regarding Galway for my parents and I. The past two times we've been to Ireland, we tried and never succeeded in visiting the city. The first time, there was an international air show and the city had 10,000 more people there than usual and all the streets were packed for miles! Galway is a walk-only city, so you need to park outside of it. The second time, there was an international sailing race that was ending at Galway the day we were nearby, and Prince Harry was in attendence. So there went our second attempt at visiting. Third try is the charm, right??
Galway is internationally known for its beautiful city filled with tradition, history, and, arguably, some of the best traditional Irish music in the world. The city is bordered by beautiful Galway Bay. The winding streets have all sorts of shops and centuries-old pubs, and there are still cobbled streets. Can't wait to FINALLY explore this beautiful, ancient city!
